Pirates Of The Caribbean Reboot Script Nearly Done! “Hope Disney Approves”
The Pirates of the Caribbean saga, which many thought ended with the 2017 film Salazar’s Revenge, is not over. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently shared that two new films are in the works, both without Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp’s iconic character.
“We have a script that’s being written right now. Hopefully, it’ll be ready in a month or so, and it’ll be as good as I think it will be. So, hopefully, Disney will like it and allow us to make it,” Bruckheimer said.
Bruckheimer had earlier confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be a reboot. He explained that it was easier to put together than films like Tom Cruise’s Top Gun because they don’t have to wait for certain actors.
Likely, the next film will also not feature Elizabeth Swann, played by Keira Knightley, or Will Turner, played by Orlando Bloom, who were co-protagonists with Jack Sparrow in the previous films.
There are two films in the pipeline because Bruckheimer is also working on a female version of Pirates of the Caribbean with a possible lead role for Margot Robbie. However, in 2022, Robbie hinted that this project might be shelved: “We had an idea and we had been developing it for a while, a long time ago, to have a story focused on women. A story different that we thought might be interesting but I guess they don’t want to do it.”
