Cut Scene From The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Could Have Changed Everything

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” starring Andrew Garfield, is often seen as the weakest in the Spider-Man series. Still, it has some great visual scenes and one of the most emotional moments in the series: the death of Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone. This tragic event is also remembered in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” where Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man saves Zendaya’s MJ, finding the redemption he needs.

Not many know that a key scene was cut from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which could have changed the ending. In an early version, Peter is at her tombstone after Gwen’s funeral. His father, Richard (played by Campbell Scott), appears. This twist would reveal Richard was alive, watching over Peter from afar. During their talk, Richard says the famous line, “With great power comes great responsibility,” giving Peter the strength to move on.

This scene hints at the canceled “The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” where Richard might have been a clone.

For more on Spider-Man, there are rumors Sony plans to make new Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their universes.
